    Objective

Execute a sharp move at speed and accelerate past the defender into space.

    Setup

One cone (or passive partner) as the defender, ball at your feet, 5 yards of run-up.

    Instructions
    1. Set up a cone or have a passive defender
    2. Approach at match speed
    3. Practice specific moves: step-overs, scissors, body feints, Cruyff turn
    4. Execute the move and accelerate away
    5. Alternate which foot you use for the move
    What good looks like
    • Approach at game speed — the defender has to commit
    • Body shape sells the fake direction before the cut
    • Touch out of the move pushes the ball into space
    • Explosive first 3 yards after the cut
    Common mistakes
    • Telegraphing the move — no fake before the cut
    • No acceleration after the move (the move IS what beats the defender, the burst is what punishes them)
    • Same move every rep — predictable
    • Approaching too slowly to threaten the defender
    Equipment
    1 cone or defender
