    How to record this drill

Record 20–30 seconds showing 16–24 touches. This is the scoring clip, not the full 10-15 minutes practice session.

3/4 angle, phone on a tripod at full height or on a raised surface (bleacher, bench), camera facing the box SQUARE-ON (directly toward the box — NOT from the side or at an angle), 8–10 yards back — the entire box boundary and player feet visible at all times.

    Objective

Develop elite close control by dribbling continuously inside a small marked box.

    Setup

5x5 yard box (4 cones), one ball, you inside the box.

    Instructions
    1. Set up a 5×5 yard box with one cone at each corner — this is your entire world for the set
    2. Dribble continuously inside the box; the ball must never leave — touch a cone = restart the set
    3. Use all four foot surfaces every set: INSIDE of foot (most control), OUTSIDE of foot (quick redirects), SOLE/bottom (stop-and-go), LACES/toe (emergency touches)
    4. Change direction every 2–3 touches — random, unpredictable, as if evading a defender
    5. Add specific moves as you get comfortable: stop-and-go, step-overs, sole rolls, L-turns — chain them together inside the box
    6. Keep your head up between touches — scan the box, not the ball
    7. Progression: shrink to 4×4 after mastering 5×5, then 3×3 for elite close control
    8. Rest 30 seconds between sets
    What good looks like
    • Inside, outside, sole, laces all used in one minute
    • Direction changes every 2-3 touches
    • Head pops up between sequences
    • Ball stays inside the box for the full set
    Common mistakes
    • Ball escapes the box (lost rep)
    • Same surfaces every touch — no variety
    • Slow, predictable patterns — easy to read
    • Head down throughout
