    Objective

Take the first touch in any chosen direction so the next action is set up before the ball arrives.

    Setup

Wall or rebounder, 4 cones at 2 yards in front/back/left/right.

    Instructions
    1. Set up 4 cones around you at 2 yards: front, back, left, right
    2. Pass against the wall/rebounder
    3. As the ball returns, touch it toward one of the cones based on imagined pressure
    4. Vary which cone you touch toward each rep
    5. Practice receiving with inside, outside, and sole of both feet
    6. Progress by having someone call out the direction before the ball arrives
    What good looks like
    • Body angled before the ball arrives
    • Touch goes toward the chosen cone, not under the body
    • Different surfaces depending on direction (inside/outside/sole)
    • Touch leaves the ball at a passable distance
    Common mistakes
    • Touch always to the same side
    • First touch into pressure instead of away from it
    • No pre-scan to know where pressure is coming from
    • Square body shape — only one direction available
