    How to record this drill

Record 5+ reps in a row. 1 rep demonstrates the move — 5+ proves you own it and unlocks an uncapped score.

    Objective

Shield the ball while turning away from pressure — the sole roll buys time and the spin creates a new direction while your body stays between the ball and the defender.

    Setup

One cone representing a chasing defender. Ball at feet.

    Instructions
    1. With the ball in front and pressure approaching, place the sole of your right foot on top
    2. Roll the ball backward — pull it toward you with your heel leading
    3. As it moves back, pivot your body away from the pressure (spin 180°)
    4. Exit facing the opposite direction with the ball under control
    5. Keep your back between the defender and ball throughout the spin
    6. Exit touch pushes the ball into space in the new direction
    7. Mirror: sole drag with left foot, pivot the other way
    What good looks like
    • Sole firmly on ball, heel leading the drag straight backward
    • Spin stays compact — tight rotation, ball stays within one step
    • Back faces the pressure source throughout the spin
    • Ball exits the spin moving forward in a clear new direction
    Common mistakes
    • Heel doesn't lead on the drag — toes-first drag is weak and loses the ball
    • Spin too wide — ball loses contact with the foot during rotation
    • Ball drifts away from the body during the spin — must stay shielded
    • No clear exit target — know where you're going before the drag

How the AI scores this drill
Primary metric: Move Execution And Exit Quality

    Technique

    30%

The move is executed with the correct mechanics for this specific drill (foot path, contact point, timing). See per-move AI instructions for exactly what to look for.

    Deception

    20%

Shoulder/body fake sells the move — an imagined defender would realistically commit. Weight transfer is visible and deliberate. The fake precedes the exit.

    Ball Control

    20%

Ball stays within playing distance (1–2 yards max) throughout the move. Exit touch is controlled. No heavy touch that gives possession away.

    Explosive Exit

    20%

Acceleration in the first 3 steps after the move. Ball pushed into open space (not dead underfoot). Player body leans forward into the burst.

    Balance & Control

    10%

Low centre of gravity during the move. Stable body position — no stumble or lurch. Player is under control at the point of exit.
