    How to record this drill

Record 30–45 seconds showing 8–10 attempts. This is the scoring clip, not the full 10-15 minutes practice session.

Side-on from the kicking foot side, camera eye level (~5–6 ft off the ground), 10–15 yards back — plant foot, ball-strike, and as much of the driven ball flight as possible in frame; wide angle preferred so you can see the ball stay low.

    Objective

Strike the ball cleanly through the centre with locked ankle and laces, keeping the pass below head height and on target at 30–40 yards.

    Setup

Open space, partner or cone target at 30–40 yards, 1 ball.

    Instructions
    1. Set a target cone or partner 30–40 yards away
    2. Plant your non-kicking foot beside the ball, toe pointing directly at the target
    3. Lock your ankle and strike through the centre of the ball with your laces
    4. Follow through straight toward the target — not across your body
    5. The ball should stay below head height and arrive with pace for a first-time play
    6. Repeat from both feet — 10 reps per foot per set
    What good looks like
    • Plant foot beside the ball, toe pointing directly at the target
    • Ankle locked tight at contact
    • Ball struck through its centre with laces — low driven trajectory below head height
    • Follow-through runs straight toward the target
    • Ball arrives with enough pace for a first-time play
    • Both feet capable, even if not equal
    Common mistakes
    • Leaning back — ball lofts instead of staying driven and low
    • Ankle loose at contact — ball bobbles or lacks pace
    • Following through across the body instead of straight toward the target — ball bends away
    • Approach angle too straight — reduces natural shape, limits accuracy at distance
    • Non-kicking foot too far from the ball — changes contact point, kills power
