    Objective

Take a clean first touch in any direction under pressure so your next move is set up before the ball arrives.

    Setup

Wall or partner 5 yards away, ball, optional 4 cones to mark target directions.

    Instructions
    1. Have a partner pass or use a wall to return the ball to you
    2. Control the ball with your first touch in different directions
    3. Practice with inside of foot, outside of foot, sole, and chest
    4. Receive the ball and turn in one motion
    5. Vary the power and angle of incoming passes
    What good looks like
    • Foot/chest/thigh meets the ball with a soft, withdrawing motion
    • Body angled before the ball arrives — back foot ready
    • Touch lands the ball at a passable distance (not too close, not chasing)
    • Different surfaces used: inside, outside, sole, thigh, chest
    Common mistakes
    • Stiff foot at contact — ball bounces away
    • Not opening the body before the ball arrives
    • Using the same surface every rep (only inside foot)
    • First touch into the body instead of into space
