    How to record this drill

Record 30–45 seconds showing 7–10 actions. This is the scoring clip, not the full 15-20 minutes practice session.

Side-on to the goal, camera eye level (~5–6 ft off the ground), 10–12 yards back — hand shape on the parry and ball deflection direction clearly visible.

    Objective

Parry shots away from danger areas when catching cleanly isn't possible.

    Setup

Goal, gloves, partner shooting from 12-15 yards.

    Instructions
    1. Partner shoots from 12-15 yards with power
    2. For shots you can't hold, push firmly with open palm
    3. Parry wide of the posts and away from oncoming attackers. Never direct the ball back into the central scoring area. Place cones in likely attacker positions and direct rebounds away from those cones.
    4. For high shots, tip over the bar with fingertips
    5. Keep your wrist strong - don't let it buckle
    6. Practice both hands - be confident on your weak side
    What good looks like

    • Confidence on both sides
    Common mistakes
    • Parrying back into the central scoring area or toward oncoming attackers
    • Wrist buckles — ball flies up uncontrolled
    • Trying to catch when the shot is too powerful to hold
    • Both hands meet the ball flat — no direction control
