    How to record this drill

Record 5+ reps in a row. 1 rep demonstrates the move — 5+ proves you own it and unlocks an uncapped score.

    Objective

Change direction sharply with a single inside-foot touch. The simplicity is the strength — no setup, just a decisive redirect when the defender's weight commits.

    Setup

One cone as defender. Ball rolling at feet. Space to both sides.

    Instructions
    1. Dribble toward the cone at pace, ball slightly ahead and to the right
    2. Plant your left foot firmly beside the ball
    3. Cut the ball sharply inside (left) with the inside of your right foot at a 60-90° angle
    4. Body stays low through the cut — bend the knees for balance
    5. Accelerate immediately in the new direction
    6. Ball should land inside your body line, not rolling away
    7. Mirror: cut inside with left foot to go right
    What good looks like
    • Cut angle sharp — 60° minimum, body redirects as one unit
    • Ball ends up inside the body line and already moving in the new direction
    • Plant foot firm — no slipping or wobble on the pivot
    • First touch and first step happen simultaneously
    Common mistakes
    • Shallow cut angle — aim for 60-90°, not 30°
    • Ball ends up outside the body line after the cut — should land inside
    • Standing upright through the cut — body must stay low and balanced
    • No acceleration immediately after

How the AI scores this drill
Primary metric: Move Execution And Exit Quality

    Technique

    30%

The move is executed with the correct mechanics for this specific drill (foot path, contact point, timing). See per-move AI instructions for exactly what to look for.

    Deception

    20%

Shoulder/body fake sells the move — an imagined defender would realistically commit. Weight transfer is visible and deliberate. The fake precedes the exit.

    Ball Control

    20%

Ball stays within playing distance (1–2 yards max) throughout the move. Exit touch is controlled. No heavy touch that gives possession away.

    Explosive Exit

    20%

Acceleration in the first 3 steps after the move. Ball pushed into open space (not dead underfoot). Player body leans forward into the burst.

    Balance & Control

    10%

Low centre of gravity during the move. Stable body position — no stumble or lurch. Player is under control at the point of exit.
