    How to record this drill

Film 10+ complete passes without stopping. The AI measures weight, accuracy, and movement quality across multiple reps — a single pass is variance, a sequence is skill.

    Objective

Develop passing weight, open body shape, and immediate movement after the ball — keeping the triangle spinning at pace with the ball always beating the runner.

    Setup

Three cones in a triangle 10–15 yards apart. One player at each cone (A, B, C). With only 2 players, use a wall or rebounder at the third cone.

    Instructions
    1. You need 3 people — one at each cone (A, B, C), 10–15 yards apart. With only 2, use a wall or rebounder at the third cone.
    2. Player A passes to Player B, then immediately sprints to B's cone — follow your pass
    3. Player B receives on their back foot with body already open toward C, passes to C, then sprints to C's cone
    4. Player C receives open toward A, passes to A, then sprints to A's cone — the triangle keeps spinning
    5. The ball should always beat the runner to the cone: if you're arriving before the ball, you're passing too late or running too early
    6. Keep the rhythm: PASS → SPRINT → RECEIVE OPEN → PASS → SPRINT
    7. Switch direction and increase speed as you improve
    What good looks like
    • Body already open toward the next target BEFORE the ball arrives
    • Back foot receives, front foot points toward the next pass — no extra touch needed
    • Sprint to the next cone the moment the pass leaves your foot
    • Ball arrives at the next cone BEFORE you do — ball beats the runner every rep
    • Pass weighted so the receiver can play it one-touch without adjusting their run
    • Triangle keeps spinning — ball never sits still for more than 2 seconds
    Common mistakes
    • Standing still after the pass instead of sprinting to the next cone
    • Receiving square (closed body, facing the ball) — can only play backward, must take an extra touch to turn
    • Passing too late — runner arrives at the cone before the ball (pass should beat you there)
    • Pace of pass too soft — receiver has to come to the ball and loses momentum
    • Wrong foot for the angle — forces body into a closed position on the next touch

    Foundation

    Level 1

Two-touch around the triangle in one direction, 5 minutes.

    Form

    Level 2

Switch direction on command — immediately reverse the triangle.

    Tempo

    Level 3

One-touch around the triangle — no extra touches allowed.

    Pressure

    Level 4

Speed challenge: how many full rotations in 60 seconds without a mistake?

    Match Rhythm

    Level 5

Add a defender in the middle — keep possession for 2 minutes.

    Mastery

    Level 6

Add a second ball — keep both moving simultaneously without collision.

How the AI scores this drill
    Primary metric: Accuracy And Weight

    Pass Accuracy & Weight

    35%

Ball reaches the moving target at the right pace — weighted so they can play first time without breaking stride

    Body Shape — Open Receiving

    30%

Player's body is already angled open toward the NEXT target before the ball arrives — back foot receives, front foot points toward the next pass

    Movement After Pass

    20%

Player sprints immediately to the next cone after releasing — does NOT stand and watch the pass

    Tempo & Rhythm

    15%

The triangle keeps spinning at pace — ball never sits still, no pauses between receive and pass
