    Objective

Build defensive stance and footwork foundation for 1v1 defending.

    Setup

5x5 yard square (4 cones), no ball needed.

    Instructions
    1. Set up a 5x5 yard square with cones
    2. Start at one corner in defensive stance: knees bent, on balls of feet, side-on
    3. Shuffle sideways to the next cone, staying low
    4. At each cone, practice a jab step forward then recover
    5. Complete the square clockwise, then counter-clockwise
    6. Focus on staying low, never crossing feet, and quick direction changes
    What good looks like
    • Knees bent, weight on balls of feet
    • Side-on stance — one foot leading
    • Quick lateral steps, no crossing
    • Arms out for balance
    Common mistakes
    • Standing tall — slow to react
    • Crossing feet on the shuffle
    • Square stance — easy to be beaten on either side
    • Hands at the sides — no balance
