TRAINING PLAN

At-Home Soccer Training Plan: What You Can Actually Do Without a Field

A realistic at-home soccer training plan using a ball, a wall, and 20 minutes a day. No miracle equipment — real technique work.

At-home training is where most of a youth player's touches actually come from. Team sessions produce maybe 100 touches on the ball per hour. A focused 20-minute at-home session can produce 300 — if the reps are useful ones, not just juggling for a YouTube video.

This plan assumes the equipment most homes have: a ball, a wall, and a 10x10 flat surface. No ladders, no cones needed (though cones help). It builds technique that transfers directly to team training.

    The Wall Is the Coach

A wall does what a human coach rarely has time to do — returns the ball instantly, at the angle you hit it. Wall-ball for 15 minutes a day, with specific constraints (two-touch, weak-foot only, scan-and-receive), builds first touch faster than most team drills.

    Week 1–2: Wall-Ball Foundations

Daily 20 minutes. Two-touch wall-ball, 50 reps right foot, 50 reps left. Then scanning reps — glance behind before every reception. Then receive-and-turn, 30 reps each direction.

    Week 3–4: Pressure and Constraints

Add a timer. 60 seconds of one-touch wall-ball, rest 30, repeat. The fatigue forces the technique to hold up or fall apart — whichever it does, you find out. Add a cone as a visual target and aim specific zones of the wall.

    Week 5–6: Dribble and Shoot

Ten minutes of dribbling (Iniesta toe-taps, inside-outside, sole rolls — the hard things you never do in training). Then 10 minutes of weak-foot shooting at the wall, 40 reps.

    Week 7–8: Match Application

At this point, bring the reps into team training. The at-home work should already be showing up in warm-ups. Keep the 20-minute sessions going on non-training days; rest on training days.
