Turn film into performance data.
Use this after every game.
Focus on decisions — not highlights.
Step 1: Choose the Right Moments (3–5 Clips)
Select short clips (8–25 seconds) that show:
- Goal Scored
- Goal Conceded
- Defensive Breakdown
- 1v1 Situation
- Transition (win or loss of possession)
- Build-Up Play
- Set Piece
- Off-ball movement moment
Avoid:
- ✘ Only highlight plays
- ✘ Long, unfocused clips
- ✘ Random sideline footage
Elite review = intentional clips.
Step 2: Decision Speed
For each clip, ask:
- Did I scan before receiving?
- How long did I hold the ball?
- Was there a faster option?
- Did I hesitate under pressure?
- Did I react immediately in transition?
Key Question:
Was I early, on time, or late?
Step 3: Tactical Awareness
- Was my positioning correct?
- Was my spacing too tight or too wide?
- Did I provide support angles?
- Was I connected to my line defensively?
- Did I recognize danger early?
Ask:
Did I make the game easier or harder for my team?
Step 4: Defensive Responsibility
- Was my pressure immediate?
- Did I delay correctly?
- Did I recover at full speed?
- Did I track runners?
- Did I communicate?
Defensive growth is visible in film.
Step 5: Transition Reaction
The first 3 seconds matter most.
- When we lost possession, did I react instantly?
- When we won possession, did I attack space?
- Did I jog or sprint?
- Was I aware of numbers up/down?
Transition separates average from elite.
Step 6: Pattern Recognition
After reviewing 3–5 clips, ask:
- What mistake repeated?
- What strength showed up consistently?
- Where was I most uncomfortable?
- What situation needs extra training this week?
Improvement happens when patterns are visible.
Step 7: Set a Game Goal for Next Match
Choose ONE focus only:
- Faster scanning
- Immediate defensive pressure
- Better support angles
- Faster transition reaction
- Quicker release under pressure
- Stronger off-ball movement
Elite players don't fix everything at once.
They target one edge.
